Upscaling technologies (Nvidia DLSS, AMD FSR, Intel XeSS) let you render at a lower resolution and upscale to your target resolution — often with minimal visual quality loss. For budget GPUs, FSR is especially valuable since it works on any GPU. If you're buying a budget card, check FSR support in your most-played games. It can make a mid-range GPU perform like a higher tier card in supported titles.
New vs Used GPU Market
The used GPU market can offer excellent value, but carries risks: no warranty, unknown mining/stress history, and potentially degraded thermal paste. If buying used, stick to cards from reputable sellers, test immediately, and check the RMA process. New mid-range cards from the current generation are often safer at similar price points.
How to Evaluate Price-to-Performance
The most reliable method: find 1080p and 1440p benchmark data for the GPUs you're comparing, calculate performance-per-dollar, then compare. A card that's $50 cheaper but 20% slower is worse value than it appears. A card $30 more with 15% more performance and 4GB more VRAM is probably the better buy for longevity.
